The Drum Fill

Drummers: Wanna show us what you got?

Hey Everyone,

Just wanted to write a quick blog post about my very first Jam Session. It finally took place last night! After practicing for a year (or so) I finally hooked up with some buddies/musicians and we jammed for about 3 or 4 hours. I had a blast, it was great fun... I was a little nervous at first but loosened up after a little bit of playing and a couple beers :)

I made sure to keep it simple. I mostly just held some beats for the boys as they worked on some new songs they want to touch up. We plan on continuing to Jam at least once a week so I'm pumped about that. I hope they keep me around long enough to finish some work.

I will make an honest effort to improve each time I play. Add a little more to it and carry on because I really enjoyed how it feels to be playing live music with a bunch of other passionate people. It was awesome.

Cheers,
Adrian

P.S If anyone has any good tips for jamming feel free to let me know in the comments section. Thanks!

haha... yeah, just have to be careful not to have to many and lose the motor skills. I hear they are important while playing the drums haha... Nice chatting with you tonight, good luck with everything!

I do this weekly (every Wednesday night) and nothing beats it... I still have a long way to go in my mind - and especially before I play in PUBLIC... but for now I feel I learn a great deal just playing with other musicians.

Yeah, I agree... I love learning and having fun, so I think playing drums is a good place for me at this time in my life.

I'm glad to hear that you still have that feeling also. I hope that it never leaves for me!

Heck Adrian, I am STILL there every time I jam with new people. Sometimes I am there hitting the stage in front of a crowd 5 minutes after shaking hands with new musician friends! As long as we remember it's supposed to be FUN, it will be.

Thanks Guys... I appreciate the support. I know you understand where I am coming from. I'm sure you were there at one time (your first few jams).

I am very into and I can't wait to keep going and get some videos and hopefully some music sometime soon.

Thanks again,
Adrian

Congrats on the fun jam buddy. Playing with other musicians is the best way to find out if what you are doing is working right. Keep on it, there is nothing like learning a new song as a group and making it really rock.

Sorry,
I should have said, isn't that what it's all about. Can't help it, I've had to many beers,,lol.

That sounds great Ade, and I'm glad you had fun,,,and hey,,,isn't what it's all about. That would be my first suggestion to you about jamming, and that is to just relax, even without the beers, and just have fun.
Love,
Dad
