The Drum Fill

Drummers: Wanna show us what you got?

Hello All,

I just wanted to write a quick blog post on my journey of learning how to play the drums and where I am at. It's been a great journey so far and I hope it keeps on rolling along here. I was able to head out last night to Elwoods and attend the Matt Hughes Benefit Concert. A great event for a great cause, nicely done by everyone who helped out. I was able to meet up with fellow Drum Fill member Peter Wallace... although it was hard to track him down as he was playing in 3 out of the 4 bands :-) My good friend Mike Wiggins (lead vocals for iamError) was able to find him and I got to have a quick chat with him before his last set. I was amazed to think that Peter looked like he could play another 4 or 5 sets... he wasn't fazed a bit, nice work!

As Mike and I had a few wobbly pops we started talking about possibly jamming together sometime soon - basically he is offering to help his buddy out I think! I've know Mike for awhile now (we worked together in a Mexican Sweatshop back in 82') and have stayed in touch ever since then. So I bought Mike a Heineken and he promised to jam with me when I return from a trip in a couple weeks. I'm really looking forward to it... I'm sure Mike can help me out a lot and I'm comfortable asking him questions, which will be important. Basically I don't think I'll feel stupid to ask him questions :-)

As for the drumming side of things I've been learning some really cool things (working on some cool tom beats now, maybe I can post a few soon) from my DVDs set Rock Drumming System. That DVD is great for anyone learning but they also have a number of other DVD's that might help people out for specific areas. I hear the Rudiments DVD is very solid. They are all listed under the DVD menu at the top of the site. Feel free to check them out and let me know if you have any questions.

Well, I guess if I'm going to be jamming with Mr.Wiggins soon I better get back to the kit and practice!

Have a good one all, See you around.

Cheers,
Adrian
